Bilateral Tubal ligation - tying of tubes
🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑
🛑 Bilateral Tubal ligation is surgery women can get to "tie” their fallopian tubes.
🛑 It’s a type of female sterilization.
🛑 The goal is to prevent eggs from traveling from the ovaries to the womb so you don't get pregnant.
🛑 Tubal ligation is almost, but not 100% effective. There is a slight risk of becoming pregnant even after tubal ligation.
🛑 That can happen if the tubes grow back together. It is very rare though .
🛑 Contraceptive use up to 3 months post procedure is recommended ( pregnancy is possible during this period, but rarely occurs )
🛑 When you have your tubes tied, you will still have your monthly cycle as your ovaries are left behind.
🔴 Having your tubes tied does not make you go into menopause.

Can I Get My Tubes Untied if I Change My Mind?

🛑 In some cases, it’s possible to reverse tubal ligation, in other cases it's not. The possibility of reversal depends on the following :
🔸️what method of tubal ligation you got
🔸️how long its been since you tied your tubes
🔸️whether your tubes are too damaged to undo it.
🔸️In some cases your age matters

Kindly Note
🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑
🔴 Reversing a tubal ligation increases your likelihood of an ectopic pregnancy as compared to patients who have not had previous tubal surgery. An ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening condition.
🔴 This procedure does not protect you from STD's and doesn't stop your monthly periods.
🔴 Be sure you want your tubes tied and ask All the necessary questions before deciding to go ahead with the procedure.
🔴 If you are 100% sure that you don’t want any more children, its better to opt for your tubes to be removed completely ( salpingectomy) instead of being tied. This option reduces your risk of certain cancers , specifically those of the ovaries. Procedure takes about 10 minutes and is usually done laparoscopically. Once your tubes are removed, they cannot be put back. Pregnancy will only be possible via IVF ( In vitro fertilization)
🔴 Its possible to have your tubes tied or removed during a Cesarean section. This is safe and a good option especially if you've had 3 Cesarean sections.
Have you heard any myths about tube tying or removal?
